Harvey star Jim Parsons will lend his voice to the forthcoming animated film Happy Smekday! alongside pop singer Rihanna, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Dreamworks Animation film is an adaptation of Adam Rex's children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday. Written by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember, Smekday! will be directed by Tim Johnson and is aiming for a winter 2014 release. No additional casting has been announced.
Set in post-apocalyptic America, Happy Smekday! is the story of a friendly alien race that invades Earth and uses the planet to hide from their mortal enemy. When one alien (presumably Parsons) accidentally gives away their whereabouts, he must hide out with a teenage girl (presumably Rihanna). Together, the unlikely pair sets off on a hilarious road trip, and the alien learns what it’s like to be human.
Parsons made his Broadway debut in The Normal Heart. He earned two Emmy Awards for The Big Bang Theory, and has provided voices for Family Guy and Pound Puppies. His additional film and TV credits include Garden State, The Muppets, School for Scoundrels, Judging Amy and 10 Items or Less.
